I must be cursed, because every time I visit a newspaper's Web site, their internal search engines don't take me anywhere. That said, here's a little search engine game you can play at home.

Pity that the online newspaper industry has few Captain Kids, Blackbeards or Calico Jacks and other pirates at the helm. In part, that explains why the newspaper industry has failed to discover a profitable business model for their Web sites. Pirates don't whine like bitches when their coffers are empty. They set sail, brave ugly seas and risk certain death to find their booty.

Even the Nation's most venerable newspapers offer readers little more than cluttered, virtually unusable, front pages. Editorial discretion, the hallmark of true journalism, has manifested itself as an anachronistic concept online. "All the News that's Fit to Print" has become "All the News Will Always Fit," valuable or not.

Newspapers still don’t get the Web. To be fair it's the dim C level executives, who've failed to discover solid business models to generate revenue. Here is a suggestion for the beleaguered: Sponsored Content
